Kalaigaon celebrates Rangjali Baishagu
15th Miru Rangjali Baishagu was celebrated at Kalaigaon with gaiety.The two days Baishagu celebration was held at Kalaigaon College play ground on April 27 and 28 with various programmes. The celebration was organised by Bishungra Harimu Afad in association with ABSU Kalaigaon Anchalik Committee. The celebration was started with the hoisting of Baishagu flag by social worker Krishna Kanta Boro,President of the celebration committee at 8 AM on April 27 followed by plantation of trees,art,quiz and cultural competitions.
A souvenir named “Rangjali” edited by Biren Sargiary was released next day on April 28 by poet Sanjay Kumar Tanti,an SBI offifer working at Udalguri. “Rangjali was sponsored by the family members of late Kirti Prasad Sarma (social worker and former mouzadar of Kalaigaon). Nerkhang Khaklari,President,ABSU Udalguri district Committee inaugurated the open session at 2 PM which was presided over by social worker Krishna Kanta Boro of Kalaigaon. Gohin Chandra Boro leader of Bathou ABRU attended the open session as the appointed speaker.On the occasion he spoke on various issues relating religion and culture of Bodo society.
The open session was also addressed by Nabin Chandra Boro,Inspector of Schools,Udalguri district; DN Hazarika,Circle Officer,Harisinga Revenue Circle,Tangla and senior social workers of Kalaigaon -Kami Ram Saharia and Mahendra Saikia.The organising committee felicitated a few distinguished people including Bimal Prasad Sarma,President,Kalaigaon Chambers of Commerce;Kamal Prasad Sarma, Mouzadar,Kalaigaon and Utpal Sarma ( sons of late Kirti Prasad Sarma) for sponsoring the souvenir.
