The rescue of a python by tribal villagers near Harisinga has been appreciated by all nature loving people of Udalguri district. According to information Ratna Kanta Rabha an inhabitant of the Bisarsuburi village (Sastrapara) near Harisinga foiund the python in his cow shed at 8.30 am on August 12 while eating a cock. The news spread like fire and hundreds of villagers started rushing to Rabha's house.Ratna Kanta Rabha had difficult times protecting the reptile as some wanted to kill it for food. Finding no way to control the mob he informed Harisinga Police Station. Accordingly a forest team headed by Kushal Deka finally rescued it safe. The python,seven feet one inch long weighing 7 KG was later released in the Khalingduar Reserve Forest.

Wildlife Warden of Udalguri district; Green Society,Udalguri and Green Reporters Forum of the district thanked the villagers of Sastrapara for rescuing the python unhurt. Ratna Kanta Rabha told proudly that there had been other huge python in the village but they would take good care of it and other wild animals.
