The two days state level activity and central function of Aryabhatta Science centres concluded at Sarkardev Kalakhetra,Guwahati on November 11.The programme was organized by Assam science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC), Guwahati for the selected child scientists of the districts.Dr.SK Choudhuri, Director, ASTEC presided over the concluding ceremony which was also attended by Babul Barbarua,Joint Secretary,Department of Science & Technology, Assam; Dr.RK Barman, HOD,S & T Division of ASTEC and Biman Barua,State coordinator of Aryabhatta Science Centres,Assam.On the occasion Dr.Choudhuri requested all to perform their respective responsibilities as service instead of job.He said that no other state in India had ever launched such massive science programmes. GPS and financial grant of Rs.30500 were made to 70 selected ASC s at the function.Another amount of Rs.40000 were also distributed among the Nodal Officers of the districts to organise district level science competition in 2011.The prizes were awarded to the following state level winners at the concluding ceremony.
In science model competition – 1st prize of Rs.15 thousand was awarded to Khanindra Barua (Jorhat); 2nd prize of Rs.10 thousand to Pallav Kumar Gogoi (Dibrugarh) and 3rd prize of Rs.5 thousand to Rupjyoti Das (Bagsa). In science based poster drawing 1st prize of Rs.5 thousand was awarded to Gautam Jyoti Bora (Morigaon); 2nd prize of Rs.3 thousand to Harshadeep Kalita (Nalbari) and 3rd prize of Rs.2 thousand to Sunil Panika of Dibrugarh.In science based extempore speech competition- 1st prize of Rs.5 thousand was awarded to Bhargab Ligira (Sibsagar);2nd prize of Rs.3 thousand to Papi Borah (Sonitpur) and 3rd prize of Rs.2 thousand to Chinmoy Sekhar Das of Lakhimpur district.
