As per the direction from the Election Commission, the Udalguri district administration is going to conduct the re poll at polling station No.142 Uttar Udalguri LP School under 69 Udalguri LAC on April 18 next from 7 am to 3 pm. This was informed by Thaneswar Malakar, deputy commissioner of Udalguri district and district election officer in a press meet convened by himat deputy commissioner’s conference hall.
Addressing the media persons, the district election officer also expressed his gratitude to all media persons of the district, polling personnel and voters for extending their cooperation to make the elections a free and fair violence free one with an overall 74.47% voters turnout. He also said that the 64 Panery LAC recorded 73.93% per cent, 69 Udalguri LAC recorded 73.43 per cent and 70 Mazbat recorded 76.15 per cent voters turn out on April 11 assembly elections.
Malakar also informed that out of 3,71975 voters, 2,77,183 voters exercised their franchise of which 1,44,175 were male and 1,33,,008 were female voters.
Giving a detail of highest and lowest turn out of voters, the district election officer said that within 64 Panery LAC, PS No.118 Potala LP school recorded highest voters turn out with 93.37 per cent while PS No. 145 Tangla Town Adarsha LP school(Left) recorded the lowest turnout of voters with 48.78 per cent. Similarly within 69 Udalguri LAC,PS No. 35 Panery Tea LP school recorded the highest turnout of voters with 90.16 per cent while the Khoirabari tea LP school PS recorded the lowest turnout of voters with 59.03 per cent. Even within 70 Mazbat LAC, Mazorchuba LP school witnessed the highest 90.02 turnout of polling while Purani Goroibari LP school recorded the lowest 56.56 per cent, the district election officer added.
It is to be noted that the political fate of 24 candidates in the fray from these three assembly constituencies under the Udalguri district will be decided on May 13 next.
