Red Horns Gunners honour Udalguri students in Assam


‘Celebrate the Spirit of Freedom’ was the theme of Independence Day Celebration organized by 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) of Red Horns Division in Udalguri district. The bright young students, prize winners of I-Day open essay writing competition organized at Sacred Heart School,Udalguri on 08 Aug 2010 were felicitated by Col.SD Upadhyay, CO,315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) at Udalguri Army Camp on 14 Aug 10.The 18 young achievers were given certificates of merit and mementos for showcasing their literary talent. Speaking on the occasion, Col. SD Upadhyay deliberated on the sanctity of freedom and what it means to the future inheritors of this precious gift from our forefathers and the freedom fighters who sacrificed their everything on the altar of struggle for freedom.

An interactive session with the children and their parents followed the distribution of prizes by Mrs.Shobha Upadhyay,wife of Commanding officer of 315 Field Regiment. The prize distribution ceremony was well attended by a few distinguished persons namely- Lt. Col. Shashi, journalist Jayanta Kumar Das and heads of the various institutions of the district.

The following students won prizes in various categories.In English ( three sections)-Padma Gayari,Shahil Brahma,Saibria Baglari, Niharika Deka Narzi, Upamanyoo Das,Arpan Khaklari and Roselin Musahari;in Assamese (three sections)- Punam Rabha,Kalpana Bharali,Nisha Deka,Pranita Das,Rajiv Das,Tripa Sarkar; in Bodo (three sctions) Domion Narzari, Himanshu Gayari, Nersun Baglari, Baikuntha Bodo and Rinku Daimari.
