Alka creates history by giving birth twin in Orang NP



Her name is Alka,a forest elephant engaged in Orang National Park, doing duties to ferry thousands of tourists inside the wild life sanctury for several years.She has created history when she gave birth twins last night in the sanctury. Acccording to S.K.Daila,DFO,Orang National Park,this has been a rare case that a female elephant had given birth twins.Alkas exsisting calf is 5 years old.The DFO told The Assam Tribune that she had mated with a wild elephant last year in Orang National Park.Both the calves are female and no veterinary assistace were needed in the process of the delivery of the calves.The forest officials and civilians of Orang National Park have been rejoicing at the birth of the twin elephant calves.
