Army organises 'Career Mela' for students at Dimakuchi in Assam


The Kargil Gunners of the Red Horns Division based at Udalguri organized a unique 'Career Mela' for student community at Dimakuchi College on November 17. The aim of the 'Career Mela' was to educate the students about various career/ employment options available and provide expert advice for turning dream into reality. The one day seminar exposed the students into the career world of defence, police, medicines, engineering, journalism, civil services and industry. Expert from respective fields addressed the students and later interacted with then at the respective stalls to provide them specific guidance. Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Upadhyay, Commanding Officer of 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) reiterated the efforts of the Red Horns Division to teach out to the people and especially the student community. and to help them prepare for a brighter future. It may be recalled that the area around Dimakuchi and Bhergaon has been badly hit by the militancy and the army camp at Borangajuli has been conducting many successful operations against the NDFB (AT), ULFA and APA/ AANLA militants. The Red Horns Gunners in turn have also been simultaneously undertaking many people oriented programmes to reach out to the public and the youth. On this occasion the army organized many other multifaceted programmes for the benefit of the society and the public. The programme started with a “National Integration Pledge” wherein all the student's organization leaders of the district were called upon stage to vow for “Peace, Prosperity and Communal Harmony”.It was indeed an innovative gesture which will definitely play an important role in building the multi ethnic society of Udalguri. On the occasion, the Kargil Gunners also laid the foundations of the six lakh rupee 'Community Hall' which will constructed for the public under its Operation Sadbhavana flagship programme. The 'Community Hall' was a long standing request of the local people. The day long event ended with a “Van Mahotsav” programme wherein all members present planted a tree to mark the occasion and contribute towards our mother nature. The “Career Mela” and “National Integration Pledge” by various students leaders of the district, the “Silanyas Ceremony” of the 'Community Hall' and the “Van Mahotsav” were indeed some pioneering events in the history of the subdivision and brought smiles on the faces of one and all.
