Anundoram Borooah Awards distributed in Udalguri

The Udalguri district administration in co-ordination with AMTRON on behalf of Government of Assam ceremonially distributed Laptops and Anundoram Borooah Awards to 504 students of Udalguri district who had secured first division in the last HSLC examination at a function at DC's parade ground on October 1. Out of the 504 students 12 secured distinction marks while 91 secured star marks. Rihon Daimari,MLA,Udalguri and Chairman,Ware Housing Corporation,Assam inaugurated the ceremony at 10 AM which was presided over by Thaneswar Malakar,Deputy Commissioner,Udalguri.Tanka Bahadur Rai, Minister,Planning & Development,Law and PPG Department Assam attending the ceremony as the chief guest recalled his student life when he could show excellent results. He also spoke on the necessity of computers in every body's life. He also thanked various organizations and political parties for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the district.Mukunda Ram Choudhury,MLA, Kalaigaon as a special guest on the occasion requested students to use Laptops properly for academic benefit only rather than for gaming or watching movies. He also spoke on the role of mothers in shaping future of students. Rakheswar Brahma,MLA,Mazbat and Parliamentary Secy, Assam; Mrs.M.Banu,Inspector of Schools,Udalguri; Dipen Boro, Advisor of Udalguri ABSU also spoke on the occasion. A few award winners namely Chinmoy Kachari of Tangla(highest marks in the district); Puja Lama of Dimakuchi; Nina Mahaliya of Tangla; Gitali Das of Mazbat etc shared their experiences with guests and people and thanked government of Assam for the unique scheme. In his concluding presidential speech,Thaneswar Malakar,DC,Udalguri thanked students and guardians for showing smiles on their faces. He remarked that those smiles of hundreds would bring smile to thousands in future. On the matter of improving academic atmosphere in the district the DC declared that magisterial visit to schools would start from October 12.
