Wild elephants killed two in Udalguri district

In a tragic incident wild elephants killed two people at Coramore on June 8.According to information two strayed wild elephants had been roaming in and around Coramore area for two days. Yesterday evening both the wild elephants arrived at Ambasa line of Coramore tea garden looking for food. The elephants tried to break houses and in the process instantly killed one Jonak Tete (21) son of Gabriel at Ambasa line and another Chandra Das (52) at Sangrila line at around 7.30 pm on June 8. It needs mention that wild elephants had killed 12 and injured 16 people in Udalguri district in the year 2012. Environmental organisations like Green Society and Green Valley Forest and Wildlife Protection Society of the district appeal forest department and BTC authority to take early preventing measures so as to minimize causality of both man and elephant.
