64th Bon-mavotsav observed at Kalaigaon

The 64th Bon Mahotsav has been observed at Kalaigaon on July3.The programme was centrally arranged at Kalaigaon College premises in presence of hundreds of students,teachers and senior citizens. Students of the college joined plantation drive which was inaugurated by Arabinda Das, Principal,Kalaigaon College.On the occasion he felicitated two distinguished people of the district namely -Girindra Adhikari,DFO,Dhansiri Forest Division,Udalguri and Jagadish Sarkar,MCLA,BTC. Speaking to students teachers and people DFO Adhikari appealed all to to start plantation anywhere to prevent Uttrakhand like natural disasters. He said that it was not nature but human activities,responsible for the deaths of thousands in Uttrakhand and in other places.According to him without peoples cooperation and involvement it would never be possible to protect nature and wildlife in Assam. While talking to media persons,the DFO said that improvement of Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary,Khalingduar Reserve Forest and JFMC,Sapangaon would be given priority and more plantation would be done in JFMC Sapangaon.He said that Aranyak had assured Udalguri administration to install ten Solar panels at JFMC Sapangaon within July. He also thanked WWF India North Bank Programme for providing two Kunki elephants for checking “Man-elephant conflict” in Udalguri district. The programme was attended by Jagadish Sarkar, MCLA,BTC; Madhurya Sarma,ACF,Dhansiri Forest Division; Jayanta Das,Hony.Wildlife Warden, Udalguri; social worker Kami Ram Saharia and Kamal Prasad Sarma etc.
