Dilapidated school building of Orang Balika ME Bidyapith

Orang Balika ME School in Udalguri district was established in the year 1991 with public donation and support. The school was temporarily run in a house in the premises of Orang Lakhi Mandir.Education department of Assam government took over the school in the year 2013 by according provincial status to it. But unfortunately even after its provincialism the students of the school have been suffering a lot because of lack of own school building. In 2008,Assam Science Technology & Environment Council,Guwahati (ASTEC) granted an Aryabhatta Science Centre in the school for Mazbat block. Since then the school has been coordinating science based activities in Mazbat block.Several students of Mazbat development block have participated in the district and state level science activities. An amount of Rs.4 lakhs had been sanctioned by ASTEC to the science center in 2014 and the science building was build in 2016 at the own land of the school near Orang. The school was shifted to its new site in 2016.But education department of Assam didn't propose to construct a school building even in own land.At present there are more than 96 students in the school with six numbers of teachers, one choukidar and two cooking staff. Dikamaya Devi,Headmistress of the school told this correspondent that students have been suffering a lot in the temporary class room sheds. He said with regret that it was difficult to run classes in rainy days.Without its own building, the school authority was compelled to use the Aryabhatta Science Centre building as the office and store rooms respectively, which has stopped all science activities. The dilapidated state of the class rooms have posed threats to the the students as the school sheds might collapse any time.People of Orang urge BTC and SSA immediately to start constructing class rooms for students.
