Recent discovery of massive destruction of forest trees (old and valuable) inside Khalingduar Reserve Forest under Dhansiri Forest Division in Udalguri district of Assam has posed serious threat to ecology of Assam.More than 100 trees had been cut down near the forest Range Office and a SSB para military camp.This has raised several questions as how to protect nature and wildlife when custodians betray!
After investigation,it has come to light that Assam government has engaged most of the forest officials in the socio-economic census,2012,thereby halting normal duty.Forest department has been lacking man power in the state.Now the situation is that a dozen aged forest personals have to guard a whole division with old age weapons and equipments.
